Halo Infinite: The Nexus
MY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Responsible for the Level Design work for the Nexus level. This includes:
Blocking in Geometry (block out phase) and iteration on player flow/pathing
Documenting and pitching level beats (Narrative Moments, Objectives, Combat Encounters etc.)
Level Scripting to stand up encounters, level streaming, checkpoints, etc.
Cover placements (Line of Sight blockers) as well as weapon pick ups/placements
Worked closely with Art on new objects required for the level experience
Worked within constraints of re-using spaces, finding ways to “remix” them without creating new art debt
Heavy encounter scripting for key moments such as Gondola/Sentinel Fight.
Worked closely with Gameplay designers to polish encounters.
Top Down/Side Layout
Diagram/Sketch of the initial layout of The Nexus. Given the vertical nature of the space in relation to the end goal “Enter the Spire”, I wanted to include a side view/sketch. The idea was to have the player go in a circular flow and descend. This was to position the player underneath the spire so that they can enter from the bottom.
